Principle
As seen in picture below, normal pump only has little gap S2 of S2/B2=0.1-0.5 mm between casing and impeller.
However, whirl pump has its rotating axis located back of the casing (S2/B2=2-3, 2/Dd=0.1) thus solid or regular
sludge does not passes through impeller. Instead, the pump effluences with ease free from impeller by the
principle of whirlpool
